4S-2000 Ltd. manages the company with a structured organization and IT tools, which meet the requirements of the 21st century. The Clipper Enterprise Management System, specially developed for manufacturing companies, supports all stages of production, including each step of manufacturing and preparation processes. Since 1999, 4S-2000 has been using the ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system certified by the TÜV Bayern accreditation body. The raw materials have a unique barcode, the consumption of which is monitored in real time by the system. The completion of the given manufacturing process is supported by barcode scanners used by every employee. About 55 productive machines are networked with the latest “Industry 4.0.” solution, which helps reading real machine performance and supports central CAM program storage. There are industrial tablets connected to the machines, which give production administration and professional assistance. Extracted data can be used to perform continuous post-calculation. In addition to the enterprise management system, company management is supported by the client management, teamwork support, knowledge management, electronic document management application, while the business intelligence system supports management decision making. High-speed IP-based communication is built up throughout the site.
The ERP system is essentially production-centric. This is where customer quotes and orders are registered, whereby, based on an evaluation of the built-in reference times, the existing production times are stored in phases. The operation-phases, their descriptions and the manufacturing plans are also prepared by the system. This is where all products, raw materials and services that support production are ordered, shipped, stored and released. Along the entire value-creation chain, the realized principle is that physical activities and their virtual certification and the recording of related data are concurrent, so that you can get a real-time feedback of the production’s actual status. The records of production tools, measuring tools and its management is also implemented in the enterprise management system. In the workshop, the barcode reader system is used primarily to track production. Workers certify the completion of each work-phase on the computers and industrial tablets placed next to 55 production machines. In addition, data from these machines are also downloaded into the enterprise management system through the production monitoring system, so that the data recorded by the workers with a bar code reader and those provided by the machine can be compared. The enterprise management system is integrated with other server programs such as the client management system, the workflow, the records management system and the business intelligence system. With the exception of payroll and bookkeeping, all financial functions are also implemented in the system.
In the frame of the production monitoring system, CNC machines collect manufacturing data from machines based on data transfer, while the conventional machines use sensor technology for data collection. The administration of the production phases is performed on the industrial tablets mounted on production machines. Here, the worker can record whether he is performing tooling, machining, measuring, or any other operation, can display the drawing of the product, or running a CAM simulation. Raw materials are identified by a main/sub numbered bar code, so that not only the same material, that is purchased at the same time is identified (with the so-called LOT number), but within it all elementary substances are identified by a running number. Material consumption monitoring is done by scanning the barcode of the elementary material.
Finding and educating the right professionals also had to be considered in times of labour oversupply. This has been particularly true in recent years, when wage growth has been accompanied by an era of global labour shortages. 4S-2000 Ltd. consciously builds the pillars of its youth and for this purpose it is in close partnership with the local vocational schools, the University of Nyíregyháza, the Vocational Training Centre and the local chamber of industry. It employs mechanical engineering students in a dual contract, organizes adult trainings and summer internships that fit the profile of the company, and provides vocational training. Most of the new employees used to be at the company during the summer internship or during the year with an apprenticeship contract, but several of them came from the adult training groups organized by 4S-2000 Ltd. In addition, it provides in-house training for its own employees (e.g. CNC cutting continuing training), which gives traditional machine workers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art machines.
A company that strives for competitiveness can survive in this situation by creating an attractive place for employees and being a partner in career building. We consider our employees as allies in the tasks to be performed, discuss career issues, and turn them in a direction they can be satisfied with. An appreciated worker, whose individual needs are taken into consideration is a much better workforce. The size of 4S-2000 Ltd. is already large enough to learn a lot about how a structured company works, but still small enough to be flexible, familiar and human. The company traditionally pays a lot of attention to working in an imposing environment, with some immodesty it can be said that its environment is different from the sight of the usual factories.
